By Car

For visitors travelling by car, Appin is on the road halfway between Oban and Fort William. The entrance to Kinlochlaich is signposted beside the Police Station on the main road 300 metres north of the Port Appin junction. Look out for Kinlochlaich Garden Centre sign.

From Glasgow take the A82 through Crianlarich.  From Edinburgh and Stirling, take M9 then A84 through Callander and A85 through Crianlarich. Turn right at Tyndrum towards Fort William. The drive through Glencoe is one of the most beautiful routes in Scotland. At Glencoe/Ballachulish roundabout, take A828 south towards Oban, and Appin is 15 miles further. ( Appin is 15 miles from Oban)

By Train

For visitors travelling by train, there is an overnight sleeper train from London Euston to Fort William, which travels through spectacular scenery.. There are also day  trains from Glasgow Queen Street Station to each of Oban and Fort William. Check the rail timetables. Taxis are available at the station.

By Bus

Buses also run from Glasgow and Edinburgh to both Oban, Ballachulish and Fort William operated by Citylink. There are also between 2 and 4 buses a day between Oban and Fort William, which stop at the bus stop below Kirkton, about 1/4 mile from Kinlochlaich.

By Plane

There are direct flights to Scotland from many European and British cities. Glasgow International Airport and Inverness Airport are both about 100 miles from Appin. Glasgow Prestwick and Edinburgh Airport are a bit further. There are several car hire companies at all airports, as well as good public transport links.
